As a high school teacher, I see firsthand my students' anxiety about their college essays. Generally, rising seniors intend to work on their essays all summer, but procrastination, fear, and a sense of helplessness about how to begin paralyze them. Often, the whole family becomes stressed in the process!

College Essay Camp can help ease fears, break writing blocks, and help students find their stories. In a fun, collaborative environment, we will learn the principles of effective essays, study successful models, generate many ideas in order to find our best material, draft essays, and receive feedback. Students will not only feel more confident and inspired about their essays, but gain writing strategies they can use the rest of their lives.

The class will be capped at 16 students - enough that we will have a wealth of ideas and perspectives - but small enough to ensure personalized attention from the instructor every day.

If you have been asking yourself how to answer UC prompts, how to write the common app essay, or how to write a scholarship essay, then this class is for you!

I really enjoyed this class! I had trouble brainstorming on ideas for my essay, but I learned many tricks from Ms. Wilson. I also really like how Ms. Wilson was willing to spend time with us outside of class to go over our essay drafts with us. - Janet

Tarn enables us to easily get feedback on our essays, both from herself and from our peers in this class. – Bryan

Being in such a rich writing environment was the greatest reward. -Helen
